This exhibition was based on the book “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide,” by The New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof and co-writer Sheryl WuDunn. Over twenty-five non-profits collaborated to offer opportunities to take action in response to challenges faced by women worldwide, ranging from maternal mortality, to human trafficking, to sexual violence. In the ceiling or ‘sky’ of the exhibition, a sculpture filled with wishes for women, written by visitors during the course of the installation.
